The Monk Walking Tracks Map

This map covers the area of the Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park to the south of Chewton, Victoria, Australia.  The Goldfields Track (this section of the track is common to the Great Dividing Trail and the Dry Diggings Track) passes through the area covered by the map.  Some of the notable features in the area are the The Monk, the Eureka Reef, the Poverty Gully water race and the Escort Grave.  On its northern edge the map overlaps the Welsh Village map; on its southern edge the map is overlapped by the Irishtown map.

Potential Confusions

Dingo Park Road is also known as Eureka Road.

26/12/2014 – Earliest field data.

01/04/2015 – Increased detail in southwest corner.

20/08/2015 – Post Office Hill Reserve (near Chewton) outline included.

19/04/2016 – Increased track, aqueduct and pipeline detail in the vicinity of 583 902 (near where the aqueduct crosses White Gum Track).

11/09/2017 – Increased track detail south of Jacobs Trk.

08/08/2018 – Cosmetic changes.

28/06/2020 – Pennyweight Gully included, adjustments to grading of walking tracks near 583 902.

26/12/2020 – Dam to south of and tracks in the vicinity of Specimen Hill added.

02/07/2022 – State forest area toning adjusted to match other CCM maps.
