A map is a graphical representation of a geographical actuality. However, though some maps are more representative than others, no map is absolutely correct. The maps on this site are not exempt from this rule.
This map covers the area of the Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park to the south of Chewton, Victoria, Australia. The Goldfields Track (this section of the track is common to the Great Dividing Trail and the Dry Diggings Track) passes through the area covered by the map. Some of the notable features in the area are the The Monk, the Eureka Reef, the Poverty Gully water race and the Escort Grave. On its northern edge the map overlaps the Welsh Village map; on its southern edge the map is overlapped by the Irishtown map. This map was produced as a CCM freelance exercise, not in conjunction with a community group.
